As long as the present Nigerian structure remains, poverty, insecurity, sickness, and mortality rates will continue to increase.
Every Nigerian politician knows this; every preacher who points a finger at the devil knows this. Every native doctor who sacrifices innocent chickens daily knows this. Almost every Nigerian knows this.
The question remains: why are we finding it difficult to do the right thing? Why are our religious leaders finding it difficult to make the right demands? Why is the devil still blamed for the things caused by our inimical political structure that gives room for embezzlement of public funds, unaccountability, rigging of elections, and manipulation of justice?
We all know that the present political structure is the reason for the high costs of goods and services, and yet many are still blaming and fighting the innocent “devil.”
Strangely, many Nigerians believe that our multiple problems will one day disappear miraculously as if they have ever seen political problems disappear miraculously anywhere before.
All over the world, humans are the ones who change the direction of politics when it gets out of track. They do so via negotiations, talks, agitations, and demonstrations.
Sadly, the Nigerian situation is so bad that civil demonstrations and agitations are not allowed. How else can one spell HELL?
Despite how difficult the handlers of the Nigerian state have made any change of structure, it is still the Nigerian citizens that will champion this change. It is a duty that is staring all of us in the face.
It is the only path to peace, development, and progress. Every progressive society you know today went through the same path.
