IT WAS A SORROWFUL FUNERAL SERVICE THIS EVENING

The funeral service for the 12-year-old boy kìĺled by an 18-year-old 12 days ago was held today in the Protestant church because the boy belonged to the Protestant church.
The deacon and I represented the Catholic church in the area. Our deacon was among those who read the prayer of the faithful.
The church was packed. The chairman of the local government and his entire cabinet were present.
Members of the Protestant church, Catholics, believers, and non-believers were present.
His teachers, school principal were present. They also spoke about him.
Although the 800-year-old church, which had been a Catholic church for 300 years, was packed, there was a
profound silence in the church, with only the sound of mourning and sorrow.
I didn’t see anyone taking photos before, during, or after the service.
The television crew was present. I believe the service was broadcast live on television.
After the service, everyone dispersed in a mourning mood.
The boy did not come from a prominent or famous family. He was a normal schoolboy.
Let us learn to hold each other’s hands through good and bad times.
Let us not allow anything to divide us. Not material possession. Not religion. Not culture. Not language. Not politics.
It is only when we are united that we can experience true peace, justice, and development.
It is only then that we can see the beauty of creation and feel the presence of the Creator.
