It is very strange to see many Nīgěriāns appearing to be surprised at what our Oyibo House of Representatives member said and did to a bolt driver.
What do you really find surprising? Is it what he said or did? Are you just knowing that a political leader or an influential Nìĝérian can “delete” whoever he wants, especially a poor person, and nothing will happen?
Have you not heard law enforcement agents in the same country saying and even doing exactly that, and nothing happened indeed?
Did anything happen when innocent, harmless protesters were “deleted” at Lekki? From time to time, youths are taken away by our security personnel who never returned and nothing happened.
Was Mazi Nnamdi Kanu not abdŭcted from a foreign country? Has anything happened? He was discharged and acquitted by the court, yet he is still in detention. Has anything happened?
Are we not all witnesses to the 2023 presidential election, where the will of the people was thwarted and nothing happened?
Did we not see in Lagos gubernatorial elections how Ndigbo living in Lagos were openly prevented from voting? Did anything happen afterwards?
No. Rather, the Igbo leader in Lagos, who threatened to protect his people at all costs, was arrested and still sits in detention till date. And nothing happened!
Why are you scared of criticising the government on social media? Is it not because you know that they can detain or even “delete” you and nothing will happen?
Why did you buy those empty and plagiarised books of that professor who knows more hotels, beer palours, and joints than libraries if not for the fear of failing you and nothing will happen?
A lot of people believe today that the government is the one sponsoring insècurity acr0ss the country, especially in the Southeast. Why is it that hardly anyone says it on social media if not for the fear of being arrested or even “deleted” and nothing will happen?
Are we not the ones threatening anyone who criticises our religious leaders of being arrested or even dęleted “and nothing will happen”?
Don’t we threaten each other from time to time with such language when we have little disagreements?
We say all these things because we know that we are living in a juñgle.
In a juńgle, it is about the survival of the fittest. In a jůngle might is right. In a jŭngle, nothing happens when mightier animals devour the weaker ones.
If you are living in a jŭngle and you are yet to realise that you are living in one, you are taking a very big risk. In a jŭngle, you have to be awake 24 hours daily if you really want to survive.
As long as the present Nìgèrian structure that fuels that jŭngle life lasts, enjoy the jŭngle life and stop complaining as if you do not know where you are.
