The Miracle Stone

I once read about a story in a book (mythology), the title of which I can no longer remember. The story goes thus:
A certain village was visited by a great famine that led to unimaginable hunger. One day, someone visited the village square with a miracle stone that had the power to feed the villagers at least for one day.
Within a short time, the village square was filled up. While making some incantations, the miracle worker asked everyone to pray along with him.
During the course of the prayers, he shouted with a strange voice: “For the miracle, we need a big pot, a few grains of rice, a few balls of tomatoes, pepper, onions, crayfish, oil, and water. If you can lay your hands on any of these, go and bring them now, no matter how small it is.”
They crowd dispersed and reassembled quickly, each or most of them having brought very little of the things demanded for the ritual. All these were prepared and poured into the big pot.
Within a short time, delicious jellof rice was ready. After each one had eaten to his or her satisfaction, the leftovers were packed up. Then, the man carried his miracle stone and left.
The consequences of a lack of teamwork are what a blackman calls an evil attack. Nations that have mastered teamwork hardly talk of evil attacks. Go and verify. As long as we do not understand the importance of teamwork, we shall be wasting our time fighting nonexistent spirits.
Imagine how much Ndigbo alone have spent in thae last 30 years seeking for miracles in various shrines and prayer houses. Imagine that that money is invested in the economic development of our land. Imagine how our land would have been today. We are not poor. We lack the sense of teamwork.
